Founded in 1993, Keystone Corporation is Nevada's premier political advocacy organization dedicated to advancing a pro-business, free-enterprise agenda in Carson City and beyond.
Thirty-one years of fighting for the Nevada that works — for every business, every job creator, every entrepreneur who chose to build here.
We believe that American enterprise-based policies offer the right direction for the future of Nevada. Our goal is to find, support and develop the next generation of Nevada leadership that will move the Silver State in that direction.
When Las Vegas hosted the Western States Republican Leadership Conference in 1995, a group of Nevada business leaders organized funding for the event. Following the hugely successful conference, the organizers decided to continue their camaraderie and common goals by establishing the Keystone Corporation.
The mission of this state-wide non-profit is to promote more responsible government and a business-friendly environment. We advocate and participate in the election process and send like-minded men and women who share our values to Carson City.
Keystone's leaders do not take their role lightly. We feel an obligation to protect Nevada business by supporting pro-business candidates who understand the principles that made our American free enterprise system the strongest economic force in the world.
The candidates we support undergo a formal process of interviews and research into their backgrounds and beliefs. Once eligibility is confirmed, the candidate must be approved by the entire Keystone Board of Directors. Financial support is provided through Keystone membership dues and special events, such as the Annual Dinner.
To recruit, support and advocate for candidates for public office who support private sector job creation, low taxation, a responsible regulatory environment, and effective delivery of essential state services.
In an age where free enterprise and free markets are under siege from bureaucracy and over-regulation, Keystone is a major player in the Nevada electoral process and stands as a rock solid defender of Nevada business and entrepreneurship.
From the outset, Keystone was created to meet a need and to serve a purpose. That need and purpose remain. This is the Keystone tradition, and why we continue to exist.
Our History
A group of Nevada business leaders establishes Keystone Corporation in Las Vegas to give the private sector a unified political voice.
Keystone expands its membership and broadens its candidate support program, backing pro-business candidates at every level of Nevada government.
The Annual Dinner becomes Nevada's premier political fundraising event, drawing statewide leaders and national conservative figures.
Keystone celebrates 30 years of uninterrupted advocacy for Nevada's business community with a landmark anniversary dinner.
Making a Difference
Keystone Corporation has been at the forefront of Nevada's most consequential policy battles — fighting for the principles that keep our state open for business and opportunity.
Landmark Legal Victory
In one of the most significant legal victories for Nevada's business community in recent memory, Keystone Corporation was instrumental in the successful challenge to an illegal payroll tax extension passed by the legislature without the constitutionally required two-thirds supermajority vote.
A Carson City District Court judge ruled the legislature violated the Nevada Constitution — forcing the state to refund businesses the difference in overpaid taxes with interest. The ruling sent a clear message: the legislature cannot change the rules to circumvent constitutional protections for Nevada's job creators.
Election Integrity
Keystone Corporation has been a consistent supporter and funder of efforts to advance Voter ID legislation in Nevada. We believe that protecting the integrity of the ballot box is foundational to a functioning democracy and a stable business environment.
Our advocacy and financial support have helped keep this critical issue in front of Nevada's policymakers and voters, ensuring that every legal vote counts.
Fiscal Responsibility
Keystone has consistently lobbied against legislation that would saddle Nevada taxpayers and businesses with long-term financial commitments that threaten the state's fiscal health. We believe that good government means responsible stewardship of public resources — not chasing short-term political gains at the expense of future generations.
Our advocacy has helped defeat or reshape proposals that would have created unsustainable obligations for Nevada's economy.
Economic Freedom
Nevada's greatest strength has always been its low-barrier, business-friendly environment. Keystone has worked to defend and expand that environment by advocating for the removal of unnecessary regulations that stifle entrepreneurship and limit the ability of Nevadans to build businesses, create jobs, and pursue prosperity.
We believe that government's role is to clear the path — not stand in the way — of those who want to build something great in the Silver State.
Governance
Keystone Corporation is governed by a volunteer board of Nevada business leaders who bring decades of private sector experience to our advocacy mission.
